Understand the Social Electricity Tariff

In principle, the Social Electricity Tariff (TSEE) is a benefit that reduces the value of the electricity bill for families living in urban areas, reaching a 65% discount depending on monthly consumption:

65% discount for families with consumption from 0 kWh to 30 kWh per month. 40% discount for families with consumption from 31 kWh to 100 kWh per month. 10% discount for families with consumption from 101 kWh to 220 kWh per month .

For indigenous people and quilombolas, the discount can be even greater, reaching zero in certain consumption ranges:

100% discount (total exemption) for consumption of up to 50 kWh per month. 40% discount for consumption of 51 kWh to 100 kWh per month. 10% discount for families with consumption of 101 kWh to 220 kWh per month.

Who is entitled?

To be eligible, it is necessary to be registered in the Single Registry (CadÚnico) with a per capita family income of up to half a minimum wage or a total income of up to three minimum wages, if there is a family member who requires continuous electrical appliances for health treatment. Elderly people and people with disabilities who benefit from BPC are also included.

How to secure your discount on your electricity bill

Recently, a law made the inclusion of CadÚnico beneficiaries in the TSEE automatic, but the lack of updated data may prevent identification by concessionaires.

Therefore, it is crucial to keep the address and other information up to date in CadÚnico, visiting the nearest CRAS if necessary.

Stay informed and save on your electricity bill

Don’t forget to take advantage of this benefit, which can make a big difference to your monthly budget. Update your data, find out about your rights and help more families access these significant savings on their electricity bills.

Tips to lower prices even further

Furthermore, to save even more on your electricity bill, follow these practical tips: replace conventional bulbs with LEDs, which are more efficient and longer-lasting.

Unplug appliances when not in use, avoiding standby consumption. Take advantage of natural light during the day by opening windows and curtains.

Use household appliances with the Procel energy efficiency seal. When using air conditioning or heaters, keep doors and windows closed to optimize their performance.

Finally, regulate the temperature of the refrigerator and avoid opening the door frequently. These small habits contribute significantly to reducing energy consumption.
