Renata Vasconcellos and Bonner are more than just presenters; They are spokespersons for one of the largest sources of information in the country, capable of transmitting news with credibility and relevance to millions of Brazilian homes.

The ban that shakes Caixa and Banco do Brasil

During the special edition of Jornal Nacional, Renata Vasconcellos brought to light a new legislation proposed by Lula, which promotes a ban and a significant change in the services offered by Caixa Econômica Federal and Banco do Brasil.

According to Renata, in her own words: "In 2023, the average interest charged by banks had a slight drop…". Therefore, the newspaper advertisement makes reference to this type of fee.

During the broadcast, the implications of this legislation were detailed, especially with regard to bank interest and the supply of credit.

The reduction of the Selic rate by the Central Bank in 2023 should have been accompanied by a proportional drop in interest on bank loans, but the reality was different. The new law aims to correct this discrepancy and ensure that customers are not harmed by abusive fees.

The impact of the retroactive credit law

One of the most significant changes brought about by this legislation is the prohibition of abusive rates on revolving credit.

"Revolving interest rates will be much lower in 2024 because of a law approved in the National Congress. They cannot exceed the value of the original debt, that is, they cannot be greater than 100% per year", explained Renata Vasconcellos during JN:

This measure has the potential to benefit millions of Brazilians, making credit more accessible and reducing the financial burden on those who depend on bank loans for their daily needs.
