Understanding the extra benefits of Bolsa Família

In short, Bolsa Família’s main objective is to provide financial assistance to low-income families, helping them overcome poverty and improve their living conditions. Extra benefits, such as the First Childhood Benefit (BPI), the Family Variable Benefit (BVF), the Nutriz Family Variable Benefit (BVN) and the Basic Basket Benefit (BCB), were created to provide additional support to specific groups who face economic and social challenges.

Early Childhood Benefit (BPI)

Families with children aged 0 to 6 years receive the BPI. This benefit offers an additional R$150.00 along with the regular Bolsa Família installment. This is especially important as children in this age group have special needs that need to be met to ensure their healthy development.

Family Variable Benefit (BVF)

Families with children and adolescents aged 7 to 18 years old, as well as pregnant women, receive the BVF. So, if you meet these criteria, you can receive an increase of R$50.00 to your regular benefit. This additional helps ensure that families can provide additional resources for the care and education of their children and young people.

Nursing Family Variable Benefit (BVN)

For women who are breastfeeding children up to 6 months old, BVN offers additional support of R$50.00. The breastfeeding period is crucial for children’s health, and this benefit aims to encourage and support mothers during this vital phase.

Basic Basket Benefit (BCB)

The BCB is an additional benefit that varies according to municipal policy. Only families residing in cities that have joined this program will receive the BCB, which can provide a supplement of R$200.00. Be sure to check if your city participates in this program, as it could represent significant financial assistance.

Regular installment of Bolsa Família

In addition to the extra benefits, it is important to understand how the regular installment of Bolsa Família works. The value of the regular installment is calculated based on family composition, with each family member contributing to the total amount.

The regular installment must be at least R$600.00 per month, regardless of family size. Below are the amounts paid for the regular installment according to the number of family members.

Families made up of up to 4 people: R$600.00;Families made up of 5 people: R$710.00;Families made up of 6 people: R$852.00;Families made up of 7 people: R$994.00;Families made up of 8 people : R$1,136.00;Families made up of 9 people: R$1,278.00;Families made up of 10 people: R$1,420.00.

Keeping the Single Registry (CadÚnico) data always up to date is essential, as any change in family composition can affect the total value of the benefit.

Complete January Bolsa Família calendar

Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) is responsible for paying Bolsa Família and follows a staggered calendar according to the last digit of the beneficiary’s social identification number (NIS).

Payment begins in the last ten working days of the month, with NIS end 1 beneficiaries receiving it on January 18th. The schedule continues until January 31st, when beneficiaries with final NIS 0 will receive their benefits.

It is important to note that, for beneficiaries with final NIS 2 or 8, payment is advanced to the Saturday immediately preceding their official payment date.

Therefore, if you are a Bolsa Família beneficiary or wish to enroll in the program, pay attention to the rules and criteria to ensure that you are eligible to receive the extra benefits available and follow the payment schedule to ensure that you receive your benefit in a timely manner.
