INSS Life Proof in 2024: understand the process and guarantee your benefit!

In 2023, the INSS Proof of Life process underwent important transformations. Previously, INSS holders were required to carry out proof of life annually in person at the bank where they received the benefit, or digitally, through the Meu INSS application, with facial recognition. With the new measures, the government became responsible for cross-checking beneficiaries’ data to confirm their survival.

Simplified process in 2024

For 2024, the Proof of Life must follow the format established in the previous year. The government continues to be authorized to cross-check various beneficiary information to confirm their life situation. Among the methods used are the use of the Meu INSS application by the beneficiary, face-to-face service at INSS agencies, medical examination, proof of vaccination, among others.

Situations that serve as Proof of Life for the INSS

To ensure continued receipt of INSS benefits, several actions can be used as Proof of Life. Here are the accepted situations:

Use of the Meu INSS application (Android: or iOS: interaction with the application by the beneficiary can be used as proof of life; Acquisition of a payroll loan with biometric recognition: the realization of a payroll loan, when accompanied by biometric recognition, serves as proof that the beneficiary is alive; In-person service at INSS agencies: appearing in person at an INSS agency for any service can be considered as proof of life; Biometric recognition at partner entities or institutions: carrying out procedures that involving biometric recognition in INSS partner entities also counts as proof of life; Carrying out a medical examination: attending a medical examination scheduled by the INSS serves as proof of life; Proof of vaccination: presenting proof of vaccination in the public or private health system can be used as evidence;Service in the Public Health System or partner network: use of health services, whether in hospitals, clinics or other health establishments, linked to the public system or network partnered with the INSS;Registration or re-registration with transit agencies or public security: registration or re-registration processes in bodies such as DETRAN or Public Security Secretariats can be considered as proof of life;Updating the Single Registry (CadÚnico): updating information in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government;Voting in elections: participation in electoral processes, proven through voting, is another way of proving vivacity; Renewal of official documents: processes for renewing documents such as ID, CNH, passport, among others; Income Tax Declaration: presentation of the declaration of Income Tax, whether as a holder or a dependent.

These are the actions that the INSS considers valid for proving the lives of its beneficiaries, making the process more flexible and less bureaucratic.

What to do if the deadline is exceeded?

If the deadline for proof is exceeded without the government confirming the beneficiary’s living situation, the INSS will notify the holder through the Meu INSS app, telephone number 135 or via a statement from the bank. The beneficiary will then have 60 days to carry out any of the procedures listed for proof.

Importance of Proof of Life

Proof of Life is a crucial procedure to avoid fraud and ensure that INSS benefits are only paid to those who are entitled. With the new measures, the process has become less bureaucratic, but it is still essential that beneficiaries pay attention to INSS notifications and keep their information up to date.
