Lego Rock Band to Be Sold on the Cheap

Nope, still looks like Blago.Speaking of Lego Rock Band, Destructoid has noticed that it’s being listed at retailers for $50, $10 off the usual price for modern console games. (Well, except for the DS version, which is $30.) And publisher Warner Bros. has confirmed that that’s the final retail MSRP.

Since we’re discussing prices, I would be remiss if I did not point you to the Plastic Axe Store, where you can preorder the game through Amazon — for an additional $3 off — and help out the site at no extra cost to you.

Now that’s what I call savings!

Did I actually just say that? I’m…I’m so sorry. It won’t happen again.

See Lego Bowie in Action

Now I can't get this song out of my head. Some famous faces translate well to Lego figures. Some…do not. Alas, it seems that David Bowie is firmly in the latter category: The character shot we saw yesterday made him look like an albino Rod Blagojovich, and seeing him in motion doesn’t really help much.

Take a look at the video after the break and see if you don’t agree.

David Bowie Joins Lego Rock Band

Bowie's hair doesn't translate well to Lego.If you say “run,” he’ll run with you…but not very fast, because his legs are plastic. Yes, David Bowie will be joining Iggy Pop in Lego Rock Band, says USA Today. He’ll be performing “Let’s Dance” in a setting based loosely on the video for the song, apparently.

The piece at USA Today also has a brief interview with Iggy Pop, in case you’re interested in such things.

Iggy Pop in All His Squared-Off Glory

Lust for life = joie de vivreLast week I mentioned that Iggy Pop would be appearing in Lego Rock Band. At the time there were no screens to be had, but French games site JeuxVideo managed to get hold of some.

And they are hysterical. I dunno why, but there’s something about seeing this famously wiry dude all blocked out that makes me giggle. So I thought you’d appreciate the opportunity to giggle along with me.

I don’t want to steal JeuxVideo’s tonnerre, so click through for the rest of the pics, OK?

Iggy Pop to Rock Blocks in Lego Rock Band

Everything about Iggy Pop looks painful to me.None other than Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Iggy Pop will be a playable character in Lego Rock Band. And not only that, apparently he’s going to be the instructor for the tutorial.

EW makes an astute observation here:

While Iggy is certainly one of the stranger choices to endorse a game aimed at young pretend-rockers … his inclusion is consistent with the wry quirkiness that’s become the trademark of other Lego videogames like Lego Star Wars and Lego Batman.

I haven’t seen anything official yet, but given how delightfully odd the very existence of Lego Rock Band is, I can’t say I’d be surprised.

Rock Band to Get Queen Pack, Lego Rock Band Tracks

Any way the brick goes, doesn't really matter...to meWired.com’s Game|Life blog scored a major scoop last night by getting their hands on an internal Harmonix document comparing Guitar Hero 5′s lineup with the Rock Band catalog. Among the revelations are dates for upcoming DLC, including ten Queen tracks due in October. Also revealed is the fact that owners of Lego Rock Band will be able to import the tracks into Rock Band. As was the case with Rock Band 1 tracks in Rock Band 2, you’ll likely be charged a small fee, but to my mind the convenience is worth it.

Check out the article for many more details, including a list of White Stripes tracks due in November.
