If you like tricking out your Xbox 360 avatar with hip new duds and gear, you’re going to want to take a look at this suite of Rock Band 3-themed accessories in the Xbox Live Marketplace. The accessory lineup includes guitar, drums, mic, and keyboard — as well as an MTV Video Music Awards “Moonman” statuette.
There’s also a bunch of rock-themed clothing, and even an entire Moonman outfit. YouTube user HeyRiley has posted video of several of the items; you can find it embedded after the break.

In advance of this weekend’s PAX Prime in Seattle (alas, I will not be going this time), Mad Catz has released info and pricing on all the retooled — or at least re-colored — controllers designed to support existing music games. But that’s not all; the release also details pricing for various official accessories — as well as one item designed to take advantage of one Rock Band 3′s Pro drums:
Rock Band 3 Wireless PRO-Drum and PRO-Cymbals Kit
Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 / Wii
Fully compatible with Rock Band™ 2, all subsequent games in the Rock Band franchise and other music games, the Wireless PRO-Drum and PRO-Cymbals Kit allows gamers of all abilities to rock-out in style when playing drum portions of any game in the Rock Band franchise. From playing on easy in standard Rock Band game play, through to hard on the all-new Rock Band Pro mode available in Rock Band 3, the Wireless PRO-Drum and PRO-Cymbals Kit features four responsive drum pads, three realistically styled and newly engineered cymbals (Hi-Hat, Crash and Ride), and a metal-reinforced foot pedal. Now with an all-new input allowing for dual foot pedal setup, the Wireless PRO-Drum Kit comes complete with one set of wooden drum sticks.
MSRP: $129.99
I suspect that’s going to be on a lot of Christmas lists this year. I got hands-on time with many of these tweaked products at E3, and came away particularly impressed with the redesigned drums and cymbals.
The press release also lists features and pricing for an extra kick pedal; keyboard, mic, and guitar stands; and the Electro-Harmonix Overdrive Pedal, with everything in the lineup expected to be available by the October 26 launch of Rock Band 3.
You can see the full text of the release after the break. Continue reading →

Well now, lookie here: It’s Tuesday, which means that mega-pack of country hits is available today in the Rock Band store. But that’s not all! You 360 owners get an additional treat: the free RBN Megamix. And you PS3 owners, as per usual, get your five-song selection of popular tracks from the Rock Band Network.
There’s one problem with that Megamix, though: Reports indicate that the vocals include some buggy talking parts, making it impossible to pass the song on vox. But hey, it’s free — and there’s 10 minutes worth of really diverse drums, guitar, and bass in there. So it’s hard to complain too much. Still, I’ll let you know if a new version goes up with the fixed vocals.

One-man band Zoo Seven is running a fun little contest to celebrate the release of their song “Painted” via the Rock Band Network. All you have to do is caption a photo on the band’s Facebook page, then get as may “Likes” as possible. The winner gets a 360 and Rock Band 2 bundle, and two runners-up get fancy new footwear.

Boy howdy, the Rock Band Network appears to be back in full form: The store saw the debut of nine new songs since last we spoke of the matter on Friday.
I love how so many well-known bands are sharing the spotlight with bands I literally cannot even find mention of with all my Google-fu.
