Hey, Wii owners: If you’ve recently upgraded from Guitar Hero World Tour to Guitar Hero 5 (or expect an upgrade on Christmas morning), this may be of use to you. 5Frets has posted a simple tutorial on how to recover World Tour DLC, which tends to be rendered inaccessible if you fire up Guitar Hero 5.
It’s a very easy fix included in World Tour that’s perhaps not explained quite well enough by the game itself. But I don’t want to steal 5Frets’ thunder, so hit the Read link for full details.

When I put up the news about the Steve Ouimette track last week, I theorized it might be the end of downloadable content for World Tour. And it sounds like that’s pretty much the case. Here’s what I heard back from an Activision spokesperson:
Guitar Hero 5 downloadable content will be compatible with future Guitar Hero and Band Hero games, however the advancements and innovations made to the franchise do not allow for downloadable content to be backwards compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour.
Notice that the statement stops short of saying definitively “no more World Tour DLC.” I figure it’s entirely possible they want to reserve the right to put out new tracks for special occasions. But unless I hear otherwise, I’m going to operate under the assumption that all future DLC will be for Guitar Hero 5 and up.

Oh god, yes.
Joystiq confirms a feature of GH5 I’ve had my fingers crossed about for months: You’ll be able to use the DLC you’ve already purchased for World Tour in the game. What I didn’t expect is that you’ll also be able to import tracks from Guitar Hero: Smash Hits…which means more “Through the Fire and Flames” for everyone!
Hit the Read link for more details, and be grateful that there is sense and reason in the world.
