Warriors of Rock: 11 More Confirmed From Leaked List

Guitar Hero: QueensrycheAs if the leak weren’t already believable enough, Activision has confirmed 11 of the 22 new Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock songs leaked via that YouTube video last week. Here’s the really-truly-official rundown:

Soundgarden Anthology to be Packed in with Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

Guitar Hero: SoundgardenLooks like Activision is looking to sweeten the Warriors of Rock pot, like they did with Guitar Hero 5′s Guitar Hero: Van Halen promo. Only this time, it’ll be something a bit less potentially self-defeating: USA Today reports that “initial shipments” of Warriors of Rock will come bundled with a copy of Soundgarden’s upcoming anthology Telephantasm: A Retrospective.

But it’s not just going to be a CD; those initial copies will also include DLC of the entire album [CORRECTION: DLC of the entire album will go live with the launch of Warriors of Rock, but won't be included in the limited edition] (well, minus “Black Rain,” which will be on the Warriors of Rock disc). From the article:

Telephantasm includes Soundgarden’s Grammy-winning hits “Black Hole Sun” and “Spoonman,” as well as a previously unreleased song, “Black Rain.” That song is also among the 90-plus songs playable in Warriors of Rock; the rest of the Telephantasm tracks can be purchased and downloaded immediately for playing in the game.

Even better: The game comes out the same day the album does, so you’ll be able to jump right in. UPDATE: Check out the track list of the Telephantasm album, as well as a playlist (of everything except the unreleased “Black Rain”), after the break.

Video: More Details on Warriors of Rock’s Quest Mode

Guitar Hero: Gene SimmonsActivision has unleashed a new Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock video upon us unsuspecting mortals. This one gives more detail about Quest Mode, and includes a bit of chat with Gene Simmons about his role in the game. And lots of story-mode video, character transformations, and such.

Not a lot of gameplay in there, but it shows how seriously Neversoft is taking the whole storytelling aspect of the game. What do you think? Does this change your perspective on the game at all?

Band Hero Drums Finally Coming to PS3, 360 in U.S.

Band Hero DrumsAt last! Those redesigned, improved Guitar Hero/Band Hero drums are finally due to hit U.S. shores on systems other than Wii.

Reporting on a Guitar Hero/DJ Hero press event last night, Dan at Activision’s One of Swords blog dropped this bit of knowledge upon us:

The drum kits for [Warriors of Rock] are the new Band Hero kits that fans have been asking for — round cymbals, a relocated control box, and an overall refinement of the previous GH drums. The MIDI port that was introduced with GH: World Tour is still there, but now it’s joined by a second bass drum jack (no more splitters for double-bass on Expert Plus!) and the pedal now stays put on the kit itself.

I’m waiting on confirmation that these will come packed in with the Warriors of Rock Super Bundles, but whether they are or not, I’m just happy to know I’ll be able to grab a set of these for my 360 at last.

UPDATE: Dan confirms that the new drums will definitely be available in the Warriors of Rock super bundle, and also be available on their own — possibly in advance of WoR’s release. Rock!

Alice Cooper, The Runaways Coming to Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

Guitar Hero: The RunawaysFrom music site Blabbermouth comes word of two more classic tracks hitting Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock:

Alice Cooper No More Mr. Nice Guy No
The Runaways Cherry Bomb Cherry

But there’s a twist: Both these songs were re-recorded for the game. In The Runaways’ case, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie headed back into the studio where they recorded some of their earlier stuff; and Alice Cooper enlisted the aid of the producer who recorded the original version of “No More Mr. Nice Guy.”

Check out the whole video from Blabbermouth:

And you can find a playlist of the original versions of these tunes after the break, naturally.
