Guitar Hero DLC

Guitar Hero DLC Today: Merry KISS-mas

Guitar Hero: KissContinuing the tradition of springing new DLC upon an unsuspecting world, Activision has announced that a new three-pack of tracks for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is going live today. And it comes courtesy of the hottest band in the world.

Kiss Calling Dr. Love Calling Dr. Love - Rock and Roll Over (Remastered)
Kiss Detroit Rock City Detroit Rock City - Destroyer (Remastered)
Kiss Rock and Roll All Nite Rock and Roll All Nite - Dressed to Kill (Remastered)

The songs hit all systems today for the usual prices. But a word of warning: I’m seeing reports that this track pack causes a conflict with Guitar Hero: Smash Hits import on Wii (probably because “Rock and Roll All Nite” was on Smash Hits), so you Wii owners may want to hold off until Activision releases a fix.

In case you are somehow unfamiliar with these songs, I’ve posted a playlist after the break. Continue reading →

Guitar Hero DLC Today: ’90s Rock

Guitar Hero: Goo Goo DollsLooks like that rumeur en Francais was correct: Today, Guitar Hero fans get a dose of ’90s alt-rock hits from the likes of the Goo Goo Dolls, R.E.M., Matchbox Twenty, Sponge, and Marcy Playground. And even the pricing was correct. See the original post for a listing and playlist. Deal? Deal.

Rumor: Guitar Hero Getting ’90s Rock Pack This Month

Guitar Hero: R.E.M.Well, here’s an interesting development: A post on the French Guitar Hero blog seems to indicate the game will be getting a five-pack of ’90s hits as DLC sometime this month. The purported lineup:

Goo Goo Dolls Name Name - A Boy Named Goo
Marcy Playground Sex and Candy Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground
Matchbox Twenty Real World Real World - Yourself or Someone Like You
R.E.M. What’s the Frequency, Kenneth? What's the Frequency, Kenneth? - Monster
Sponge Plowed Plowed - Rotting Pinata

According to the post, the pack should go for 760 Microsoft Points on 360 and 950 Wii Points, which should put it at $9.49 on PS3 here in the U.S.; each track should be the usual $2 or equivalent. No word yet on release date, but you can have a listen to the whole lineup in the playlist after the break.

My Chemical Romance Pack Coming to Guitar Hero Tomorrow [UPDATE: Free via Coke for a Week]

Guitar Hero: My Chemical RomanceDuring the American Music Awards last night, Activision announced (via a Ustream feed, oddly enough) that a My Chemical Romance pack will be arriving as Guitar Hero DLC tomorrow. Better yet, word on the street is that it’ll be free, at least for a week.

No word yet on how many songs will be in the pack, or what they’ll be. According to @GuitarHero, we should know more, well, tomorrow.

UPDATE: Welp, looks like this rumor was half-right. The tracks are live, but they ain’t free. Sorry about that.

UPDATE 2: Hold up, you in fact can get the tracks for free via Coke. See details here.

Guitar Hero DLC Today: Rush, Slash, Alice Cooper, Poison, Tesla

Guitar Hero: RushI bet I freaked the hell out of someone at Activision yesterday. When I made my post about November DLC, I chose to illustrate it with a picture of Slash rocking out during his solo from “November Rain.” Because it’s November, you see.

Turns out this month’s first offering features three tracks from Slash’s solo album, and I swear I had no idea. Now what would have been weird is if I’d also mentioned Poison, since it applies to both the band and the tune from Alice Cooper, or Rush. Not really sure how I would have worked Tesla in there, though.

Anyway, tracks! Live! Today! On all systems!

Alice Cooper Elected Elected - Billion Dollar Babies
Alice Cooper Poison Poison - Trash
Poison Talk Dirty To Me Talk Dirty to Me - Look What the Cat Dragged In (20th Anniversary Edition) [Remastered]
Rush Limelight Limelight - Moving Pictures (Remastered)
Rush Red Barchetta Red Barchetta - Moving Pictures (Remastered)
Rush Tom Sawyer Tom Sawyer - Moving Pictures (Remastered)
Slash (Feat. Dave Grohl and Duff McKagan) Watch This Watch This (feat. Dave Grohl & Duff McKagan) - Slash
Slash (Feat. Iggy Pop) We’re All Gonna Die We're All Gonna Die (feat. Iggy Pop) - Slash
Slash (Feat. M Shadows) Nothing To Say Nothing to Say (feat. M Shadows) - Slash
Tesla Love Song Love Song - The Great Radio Controversy

These 10 tunes can be had for the usual $2 apiece, or you can get the whole pack for $19.99, 1600 Microsoft Points, or 2000 Wii Points. If your math is reasonably solid, you may notice that this means you don’t get a discount if you get the whole track. (In fact, you actually pay a little more on PS3!) I have no idea why that is. Let’s all ponder it while listening to the playlist after the break. Continue reading →

Yes, Guitar Hero is Getting DLC in November (And a New Game Next Year)

November RainTwo bits of Hero news for you:

First, though we haven’t gotten any inkling of what’s to come, Activision has confirmed that we will be getting new Guitar Hero DLC this month. Several messages on the Guitar Hero Twitter account have said as much — though one says “sometime this month,” which isn’t terribly encouraging. But hey, at least there’s something to look forward to.

And two: Looking farther forward, in a recent earnings call Activision announced that there will be a new Hero game next year. And what you just read is exactly as much info as is currently available.
