One of these things is not like the other. Next week’s Rock Band offering features seven tunes from well-known contemporary European artists…and a legendary Christmas tune courtesy of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

These are all singles, so they’ll go for $2 apiece, or the system equivalent. And only two tracks offer Pro guitar/bass upgrades this week: “Dis-Moi” and “Jerk it Out.” Am I the only one who finds this the first week of fairly disappointing Rock Band 3 DLC? To be clear, that’s only because I’m completely unfamiliar with any of these European acts. Tell me, you folks across the pond, are you excited at least?

More than excited! You have to understand, that we Germans sometimes want bands from our home country, too. RB3 was a good first step, since I’m sure Rammstein didn’t hurt the US either. It’s not like 90% of the coming DLC won’t be aimed at US and worldwide audience. So let us have a bunch of songs every 6 months or so, that’s all. And BAP and Wir sind Helden will be a lot of fun at parties because they are well known here. You should really check them out, since both are cool songs.
I’m from the U.S. (NY, to be precise), and while this isn’t the greatest week of RB3 DLC, I’m still very excited because it has two of my favorite songs of all time: “Merry Xmas (War is Over)” and “Jerk It Out”!

Hell yeah! I’m German and I almost gave up hope on seeing some German bands as RB DLC. The “Wir sind Helden”-track is going to get my girlfriend back into playing RB with me! Seriously! Funnily the BAP track (which sure isn’t that “contemporary”) is in “kölsch”. That’s the accent native people in Cologne speak and boy is it hard to understand! Not even many Germans will understand the lyrics

Also, I find it a bit “unfair” that you say that this is the most disappointing week since RB3 launch, just because you’re not that familiar with these songs, as I expected you to judge music by different standards than just by popularity (of course I still respect your opinion Joe
Just try to imagine RB would be a European or Japanese product you enjoy a lot and this week would be the first or second in the history of RB DLC with tracks you knew and enjoy in YOUR native language! See? That’s how excited I am

Nice call on the Lennon/Yoko Christmas number. That’s one of the few Christmas songs I can actually stand. I’ll give the other stuff a listen, but it sounds like this isn’t my week. That’s okay, I’ve literally bought everything that was released since RB3 came out so I can’t complain about dropping some variety, not to mention some love to our European friends who are badly in need of it from RB. We’ve had awesome classic stuff for the last month and a half. Time to give my wallet a break.
