New Guitar Hero DLC: Linkin Park

Guitar Hero: Linkin ParkWay back in August, we heard a rumor that Guitar Hero would be getting Linkin Park DLC this month. Turns out the rumor was 100-percent true, according to Dan at Activision’s One of Swords blog. On October 19th, filling the gaping hole in the DLC release schedule, six Linkin Park tunes will hit the Guitar Hero store — all from their newest album A Thousand Suns.

Linkin Park Blackout A
Linkin Park Burning In The Skies A
Linkin Park The Catalyst A
Linkin Park The Messenger A
Linkin Park Waiting For The End A
Linkin Park Wretches And Kings A

The six tracks will be available for $11.99 on PS3, 1200 Wii Points, or 960 Microsoft Points on 360. And presumably the singles will go for the usual $2 or equivalent.

Not familiar with the songs? Well, Activision is willing to help you with that. If you order either Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock or DJ Hero 2 from Amazon next week (from October 17 through October 23), you’ll get a copy of A Thousand Suns for free. Click either of those links to be taken to the respective Amazon sales page.

Or, y’know, you could check out the playlist after the break. There’s that, too.

Cool. Wish it was some older songs, but still cool.

  2. Croq says:

Very *uncool* though that there is no discount available if you buy the whole pack…

Now that is one bizarre deal… The incentive for deals like that is usually to get people to buy the new album, not give it away. And you’re getting a whole CD for free but instead of getting to play the whole thing in the game you’re getting charged full price for a pack.

Finally, you would think it would last at least until October 26 or is this the new Activision plan…

They are gonna save the music industry by choosing a different free album to give away each week with the worst Guitar Hero game they put out in years (one that offered nothing new and few hits).

But major props for all the DLC they’re releasing. The Rocky Horror Picture Show 3-pack is one of the coolest music DLC packs for any game ever. I’m gonna be doing the timewarp at least a few times before hitting the keyboards on October 26.

Oh. So they included all six tracks that were actually SONGS on the new album and not stupid interludes.
Gotta admit, first time I heard the album I didn’t really like it, but the more I heard the actual songs and not the full album, I liked it more and more. I might actually buy these, but I was really hoping to see something on Rock Band from them…
