You know, as much as I love going to E3, it’s such a treat to come home afterward. But as much as I love coming home from E3, it can be a serious pain to get caught back up on work, e-mail, and all that other life stuff that gets pushed off while you’re neck-deep in games. So really, what I love most of all is coming home from E3, and then being done with all the catch-up.
I’m not there yet.
But I wanted to drop a quick line and let you know I’m back, really, and in the process of putting together posts covering my experiences, as well as some of the things that slipped through the cracks while I was away. At the moment, here’s my plan for the next few days:
Today:
- A massive RBN update — 20 new songs since last Tuesday’s post!
- Hands-on with Rock Band 3.
- Hands-on with Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.
Tuesday:
- Details on the new tracks hitting the Rock Band music store (Miley Cyrus!).
- Details on the new RBN tracks hitting PS3.
- Details on the new Guitar Hero 5/Band Hero DLC.
Wednesday:
- A look at the other new music games shown at E3. [In retrospect, there wasn't a lot to talk about in terms of games, so I lumped a bit of Power Gig talk in with #2.]
- Some discussion of peripherals.
- Perhaps some additional discussion of peripherals.
Thursday and Friday:
- Whatever I don’t get to the previous three days.
- And, presumably, an announcement of next week’s Rock Band DLC.
Sound good? Good. Look for this stuff to start rolling out in an hour or so. Got anything specific you’d like to know about the show? Drop me a line in comments!

crap, I misread the first one and thought you were announcing another 20 RB3 tracks. xD
Are you planing on covering music games that don’t involve plastic axes…
I’d like to know what you think about children of Eden… Everything I read about it said it was cool but it looks silly to me… Unless it involved tripping major shrooms… Then it might be awesome
Also rise of six string and dj hero2?
Yeah, um, I watched the WHOLE E3 on G4, and I only saw stuff we already knew about GH:WOR, and RB3. There was only four more announced tracks, Roundabout by Yes for RB3, Again by Flyleaf for GH:WOR, Black Rain by Soundgarden for GH:WOR, and The Outsider by A Perfect Circle. Since E3 is such a big event, I really think they should have announced more songs to feed to their starving fans. Or maybe you know something I don’t?
What was the overall feeling at the GH Warriors of Rock booth? Was it dead compared to Rock Band 3′s? Does it seem like GH is on its way out?
@Astroburn, Heh, not at all — I don’t think they’re too worried that RB3 is going to steal too much of their thunder. I think there might be less crossover going forward, but Guitar Hero and Rock Band players have already pretty much staked their territories at this point…
I can’t wait to read any news on the new Rock Revolution (aka Power Gig)…poor boys
@Kevin, sorry I missed your comment earlier. At this point I need to keep the focus pretty narrow on guitar games — I don’t have the mental or temporal bandwidth to cover all music games right now. But maybe someday!
That said, I will be covering Power Gig and such. Look for more on that later this week!
@Joe’s last comment, it is optional to use a guitar on DJ Hero 2.
Haha you handled it pretty well last year when there were triple times the titles out compared to this year…
is there a band hero 2 due out this year… Haven’t heard anything…
