New gameplay and instrument details weren’t the only thing revealed about Rock Band 3 today — USA Today also revealed 22 of the game’s expected 83 tracks. Thanks to the addition of keyboard sections, the list is particularly varied.
It also has a pretty fair number of songs we’ve seen in previous (or even upcoming) Guitar Hero games…including at least one — “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” — that’s been on two previous Guitar Hero games. At first that kind of bugged me, I’ll admit. But then I remembered Pro Mode, and realized that these are going to be very different gameplay experiences.

A nice start. Especially excited for Rainbow in the Dark, Crazy Train, Just Like Heaven, and Crosstown Traffic.
Glad to see Metric in there, but would have preferred Sick Muse or Gimme Sympathy. I realize they picked Here I Go Again for the keyboard bits, but Still of the Night would have been so much more fun.
Not delighted by the return of I Love Rock and Roll.
No, but it’s probably a really great intro-level tune for Pro mode, you know? All those simple power chords…
Oh, yeah. I totally get why they did it. I’ve just moved into standard “bitch about them not picking the song you want” mode (also known as “RightBandWrongSong”).

This is awesome news! Love about 85% and that’s only because I haven’t listened to the unknown tracks yet.
MAtchstick, I wouldn’t count ANY of those songs out since I believe Still In The Night was rumoured and will likely be DLC leading up to RB3 along with songs from the Satellite album from Metric.
I want more Beck! Maybe a Beck Track Pack or something, I was delighted with E-Pro in RB2 & Gamma Ray in GH5, but I want Devils Haircut in RB3 or GH:WOR. I also want more Chemical Brothers. Leave Home would be fine.
It’s looking good so far.
My original thoughts were, “Some good songs, but I hope there’s more in the full list that interests me.” After listening to a few, my opinion has changed to, “Well, there’s more here that I like than I expected.” I’m not huge on every song, of course, but it’s hard to hate any song with “The Power of Love.”
(I was like, “Hey, is this the song from Back to the Future? It is!”)

Also, ouch, it seems both GH and RB will be playing hard ball more than ever come this fall.
The GH playlist is way better, so far. But the games aren’t even close.
Rainbow in the Dark, Break on Through, Crazy Train the promise of better Cure songs and The Power of Love are what I can’t wait to play from that list.
