Oh, will you look at that. Entertainment Weekly has gone ahead and published the entire set list for Green Day: Rock Band. Let’s start off with the biggest news: American Idiot isn’t the only album playable in its entirety.
In fact, the game is almost entirely made up of complete albums. Dookie is there, from start to finish. 21st Century Breakdown is there, from start to finish…minus the six tracks already released as Rock Band DLC — which you already knew can be imported into the game.
In addition, the game includes a selection of popular tracks from Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning, two to three apiece:
Insomniac (Amazon
| iTunes)

- “Brain Stew”
- “Jaded”
- “Geek Stink Breath”
Nimrod (Amazon
| iTunes)

- “Hitchin’ a Ride”
- “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)”
- “Nice Guys Finish Last”
Warning (Amazon
| iTunes)

Now for the bad news. The game includes nothing before Dookie. That means the closest we get to playing anything on Kerplunk!
is the re-recording of “Welcome to Paradise.”
I am disappointed by this.
I’ll have a lot more detail for you on Monday about the reasons for the lack of early content, some of the venue choices, and the unlockable material, as well as a one-on-one Q&A with project lead Chris Foster. Until then, you can find more details in the EW story behind the Read link (including some venue info), and the full set list after the break.

To be honest, I’m not really sad about the lack of the earliest Green Day stuff. I started with Dookie (MTV’s constant LONGVIEW and BASKET CASE plays got me into Green Day). I am really excited about this… now I just need to find some of my friends that know a ton of Green Day so they can sing back-up for me!
Man i was really hoping for the “My Generation” cover by Green Day! I figured with the man love that Harmonix has for The Who… that this would have been pushed through.
Otherwise i dig the setlist… i just now hope that Harmonix sells me on this with the hope of this being exportable in the future on the Wii…
This sucks REALLY, REALLY HARD. In fact, it sucks so hard that I was going to buy the game, and now I will SURELY just ignore it. That’s how much it sucked for me. Major disappointment.
I mean, 3 songs out of Insomniac??? NO songs from Kerplunk?!? 3 out of Nimrod??? This shouldn’t even be called “Green Day: Rock Band”, this should have been released as DLC!!!
Major failure, I am actually VERY surprised at Harmonix.
I for one love the setlist. I know that for the most part I am in the minority, but I feel that Green Day became a much better band when they stopped being a traditional pop punk three piece band. Their later stuff is more well rounded, and more “mature” for lack of a better term. That said, Dookie is brilliant.
I wont miss Pre-Dookie. Dookie is where they hit it big. I’m not surprised by this choice at all. I am surprised there isnt more from Warning. That was a great album as well.
Brendan, I definitely agree about the maturity of their later stuff. But I have so much nostalgia tied up with Kerplunk! that I can’t help but be a little disappointed.
Well apart from the obvious omission of the early Kerplunk stuff (which im not suprised about)
The lack of tracks from insomniac and nimrod is really annoying!! And to make all of 21st centuries singles/best tracks paid for extras is just taking the piss!
