PAX East is nearly upon us. And if all goes well with my flight tomorrow (oh please go well, flight) I’ll have an opportunity to sit down with some Harmonix peeps tomorrow evening for a little Q-and-A about Green Day: Rock Band and the Rock Band Network.
So: Got anything in particular you’d like to know about either or both of those topics? Post your questions here, and I’ll pass the best ones on to the folks who are in a position to answer. It’ll be like you’re interviewing Harmonix yourself! Except, you know, through me. I’m sort of like your mouth.
Ew. Wait, no, I’m nothing like your mouth. Gross.
Anyway, ask away!

Will there be any Green Day replica peripherals or accessories released alongside Green Day:Rock Band?
Sorry It messed up when I posted
No worries! I deleted the first one. But for your and others’ reference, there should be a link underneath your post that will let you edit or delete for a limited time. (I think it’s 30 minutes.)
Ask if they are going to include an export code for the Wii version of Green Day so that we can (hopefully) export when Rock Band 3 comes out.
Yes or No : Will there be anymore Beatles DLC??
When will songs from rock band network be on PS3 ?
What is your dream artist-centric Rock Band game (besides the obvious Led Zeppelin, and the ones you’ve done before)?
BJ
On Green Day:
- Will there be further Green Day DLC releases to support the game after launch?
- How is Green Day involved in the making of the game, and what aspects of the game are affected because of their input?
- Why does the game not support non-Green Day songs (assuming it doesn’t)? Did the band have issues with their avatars playing other bands’ songs, or is it simply a decision Harmonix made to keep the game exclusive to GD’s music?
On Rock Band Network:
- How does Harmonix feel about the use of demos for the RBN songs, as to how successful they are at selling songs? Do they hope to include a similar feature for the songs in the Rock Band Music Store?
- The launch date of RBN was kept secret until the day it was available, at least as far as I know. Was there a specific reason for this?
- See if they have info on whether other Rock Band bonus bands (The Sterns, Anarchy Club, etc.) have plans to release songs through RBN.
I have some questions.
RBN:
1) Are artists from other countries invited to use the RBN? If so, any kind of plans to let the RBN known in other countries? In Brazil, for example, there are a few pop-rock acts (such as “Jota Quest”, “Los Hermanos” or “Detonautas”) whose songs could fit the game rather nicely.
2) Not exactly RBN related but: would you ever consider making additional clothes, venues and intruments available for download as well (maybe for RB3)?
GD:RB:
1) Are we going to have the songs in chronological order? Are you featuring many songs from old albums such as Kerplunk?
2) Have you ever thought about exporting the venues of new RB games such as GD:RB to RB2 and beyond as well? Would that be technically possible?
THANKS!
Is there and news on the live Pearl Jam project?
and any hints on what they are doing with Natal and how it will be integrated into Rock Band 3?
More
Will song difficulties be measured differently in GD:RB, or will they use the RB2 difficulties this time since every song is exportable?
Can we expect to see something closer to the RB3 engine in GD:RB? I mean this in the sense of if tweaks and additions made for RB3′s engine will be implemented into GD:RB.
Any plans to improve the RBN store’s sorting options? Specifically to allow for the option to see all the available songs in one list, and ideally in chronological order of their release.
1) What was it about Green Day that made you guys say, “These guys have to be our next band game”?
2) Re: RBN, Not to take anything away from indie bands, have you gotten a lot of action from mainstream artists submitting their own tracks rather than going through the traditional DLC avenue?
Will Seether or Drowning Pool get a proper DLC release rather then just on the Rock Band Network?
I would like to know if there are significant additional difficulties (financial, legal, or other) associated with licensing songs from European bands. Mainland Europe has lots of artists whose DLC would be welcomed with open arms by the hordes of Rock Band-playing metalheads…Opeth, In Flames, Amorphis and Nightwish to name just a few. We do have a few such offerings like the Century Media Girls of Metal pack, but it’s pretty slim pickings compared to all the American metal and nu-metal available.
Man, these are great questions, folks. I’ll do my best to squeeze in as many as I can!
As an Australian, I’d like to second the above questions about internationalisation, and add my own.
When will we see RBN in countries other than the half-dozen its available in now?
When will artists from countries other than the US be able to submit to the RBN?
Will Rock Band 3 be a simultaneous world wide launch?
Will Rock Band 2 EVER get released in Australia, or will we just skip in and go straight to RB3?
Please, please, PLEASE ask them if they are keeping up the pressure on Sony to find a way to bring RBN to us faithful PS3-bound Rock Band freaks!
I play drums on Rock Band every day and it depresses me an embarrassing amount whenever I realize I may never get a chance to purchase and play all those great RBN tunes simply because I picked the wrong console to buy Rock Band on!
Also, beg them to keep up the pressure on the surviving members of Led Zeppelin for Led Zeppelin Rock Band…but they probably don’t need to hear that from us…
When are we going to see more guns and roses on rock band???
