Over the weekend, Kyle A. at RBDLC noted that the Rock Band Network had reached a significant milestone: More than 100 songs have been approved to go live along with the official launch of RBN. (Which should be, y’know, any day now. We’re running out of “early 2010″ over here.)
RBDLC has the full list of approved tracks, along with this interesting observation:
Considering that the week RB2 came out we had a “mere” 96 songs between the disk and DLC, that’s one hell of an achievement, and that doesn’t even count the stuff that will pass between now and the actual launch day.
With the Rock Band DLC catalog well over 1000 songs at this point, it’s easy to forget it had such humble beginnings.
Now I just need to figure out how I’m going to cover all this new stuff. Posting updates similar to the ones I do for releases in the main music store seems like it’d quickly become a full-time job. Any suggestions?

This is assuming that the problem will come from the amount of posts that would be needed and the content of each post, and not from the work needed in obtaining the information required in the post.
I think a workable format would be a post once or twice weekly to show all the newly approved songs since the previous post. Formatted like the DLC updates, omitting the playlist if that would take too much time. Showing the price of each song will be important.
Will songs become available in RBN on a daily basis? Or will it be weekly? Or will it be whenever the song gets approved? I guess we’re gonna have to wait and see in order to come up with threads about the releases. If RockBand.com will have a set place to view available new releases, maybe just link over to it if it becomes overly complicated.
Good point — we really don’t know how these are going to be released. I assume they’ll probably unleash them on a particular day of the week, but until we know for sure it’s hard to plan too thoroughly. Thanks for the suggestions!
There were close to 200 DLC songs and 55 transferable Rock Band 1 songs on the day Rock Band 2 came out.
And on the day Rock Band 1 came out there were 20 songs available to download, so he would be wrong if he meant 1 instead of 2, as well.
And yeah it’s easy to forget that when the game came out there weren’t 1,000 songs to download. That’s just as interesting an observation.
