Reader Bdon posted a question yesterday in the comment thread of a previous post about the redesigned Band Hero drums, so I thought it was worth answering here. The question: When will we see the new Band Hero kit on PS3 and 360 in the States?
The answer: No one seems to know. Posting on Twitter last week, GuitarHeroDevs (Neversoft’s official GH-related Twitter account) said the following:
For those that have asked about the new instruments hitting the states, I have been told they are still investigating retailers, etc. So I don’t have a date for when the new Band Hero drums will be in the US. When I have more solid deets, I will share them.
Activision told me awhile back that the drums would be exclusive to the Wii bundle in the U.S., and will only hit PS3 and 360 “at a later date.” Well, it’s certainly later.
speaking of MIA…where the ^%$^ are the rest of the GH: World Tour and GH: Smash Hits exports!! Just when you thought Activision “might” be “getting it”, they go and $^#&@ their exports all up.
Three simple words. BLAME BOBBY KOTICK!! There will be NO NEW DRUMS in the US until Bobby K. sees an opportunity to make lotsa $$$$$ on them. Most likely in a band package that costs way too much. What most people dont realize in the US, is that when they purchased the Band Hero bundle they got a reworked set of returned World Tour drums that were returned when World Tour was released and the drum-kits were faulty. Activision products are no longer on my radar until Bobby K. goes away!
I consider this URGENT — I recently had a close friend of mine lose a job because of lay-offs in the GH arena. Soon after he was let go, he leaked to me some info about the BAND HERO drum-kits. It seems that for ALL US 360 and PS3 owners who purchased a band hero bundle, instead of getting the new drum-kits, all you got was a reworked World Tour drum-kit from all the returned drum-kits that were returned because of them being faulty back when World Tour came out. In other words, if you watched the Band hero TV Commercial and got excited about the new drums, and went and purchased the band Hero bundle…. All you got was a reworked over World Tour drum-kit that was returned over a year ago. When he told me this, I was not really paying that much attention to it until my orange cymbal went out and when i opened it to repair it there was a piece of duct tape on the sensor!!! And this was almost fresh out of the Band Hero Box!!
