Looking at the list of tunes set for release in the Rock Band library next week, I started thinking it looked a bit familiar. Then I checked my records and discovered that, except for Blue Öyster Cult’s “Godzilla,” these are all songs previously exclusive to the Rock Band Metal Track Pack, released back in October. That being the case, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Harmonix unveiled another surprise track pack for next week. But until then, you’ll have to content yourself with rocking out to this selection of metal and proto-metal:

By the way, since this is such an umlaut-heavy list, this is a good time to point out that I still haven’t figured out how to let you search by special characters in The Vault. So if you’re looking for Blue Öyster Cult or Motörhead, you’ll have to get creative: Search for “yster cult” or “rhead,” for example. One of these days I’ll figure out how to make that work more sensibly.

Anyway, the tracks hit at the usual times next week, as singles only — so, two bucks a pop. And you can find a playlist of most of the tracks embedded after the break, because that’s how I roll.
