Last month’s dashboard update for the Xbox 360 was supposed to have debuted hubs for music-game DLC, but apparently it took a bit longer than expected. Nevertheless, the hubs are now available, and apparently have been since last Tuesday.

The Rock Band Music Store is just what it sounds like: the full lineup of DLC available for the platform. It includes separate lists for Rock Band, Beatles Rock Band, and Lego Rock Band, and the list is presented in a slightly different way than in the games, but it’s the same lineup you’d see in any of the games.

And the Guitar Hero VIP Pass is pretty much exactly the same thing: access to the whole catalog of DLC playable on the most recent games. This one offers one store for Guitar Hero World Tour and one for Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero, but as with the Rock Band app there’s nothing here you wouldn’t find in-game.

So what’s the point? Well, assuming your 360 isn’t right near a computer which would give you access to Xbox.com, it’s a convenient way to browse and download new releases without having to actually dig out the game discs. And you know Microsoft: they are all about convenience.
