I have a question for you, friends: If I put up a donation button, would you chip in to help me buy one of these MadCatz Fender Strats that OH MY GOD I WANT ONE SO BAD.
Er, sorry. See, Kotaku just reviewed theirs, and the results were pretty enthusiastic:
The Rock Band Wireless Wooden Fender Stratocaster is hands-down the best guitar video game peripheral I’ve had the pleasure to play. … If the highlight of your week is getting together with your pals and burning through the latest Rock Band downloadable content, or you have a friend or relative that you never see without a plastic guitar controller in hand, then the Rock Band Wireless Wooden Fender Stratocaster might represent $300 well-spent. Just be warned — there ain’t no going back.
The problem is, as much as I love music games, I can’t see dropping $300 on a controller, no matter how realistic. $200 on one that also doubles as a MIDI guitar? I have no problem with that. But $300? As amazing as this thing looks, $300 is a very hard idea to swallow.
But of course I’m joking about the donation button. I’ll just keep bugging MadCatz until they finally give in and send me one just to shut me up. Yes, this will work.

That looks pretty sweet. I can resist wanting one, greatly aided by it not being available for the PS3.
Yeah, that definitely looks cool. I’d love one as well, but the price tag is a tad high. Bet it looks nice beside the ION drums, though.
I remember reading about this in OXM about 3 months back. After ruining the page from my drool, i realized that there is no way I’ll ever get it. I mean, you can get a Squire Strat for 130 bucks! and thats a REAL guitar. Why is it 300 bucks?
Just add it to my list of premium peripherals i want to own.
I got one when Amazon had it on sale for 100 bucks, and it’s terrific. The heft and size feel great, it’s gorgeous to look at, and it plays really, really well. The two oddities for a high-end controller designed for Rock Band are A) a clicky strum bar (I prefer the quiet strum of stock RB axes),and B) it lacks the auto-calibration feature that HMX has put in their guitars since RB2. So you actually get slightly less functionality for a lot more money at full price. Would I ever pay 300 clams for it? No way. But for the sale price (which was the same amount I payed for my plastic Beatles Gretsch), a full-size, beautifully finished wooden guitar was a steal. I got a guitar stand for it, and it looks stunning in my game room.
