I Got Your November Guitar Hero 5 DLC Right Here

You were made for loving me.And it’s kind of an oddball lineup this month, perhaps thanks to the launch of Heroes of the DJ and Band variety, combined with the Thanksgiving Holiday.

First off, November 5: No DLC. Instead, you get the opportunity to import Band Hero songs into Guitar Hero 5, or Guitar Hero 5 songs into Band Hero. The 61 importable Band Hero tracks are listed at the Import FAQ, but a list of the 69 GH5 songs is still MIA. Squeezing the Guitar Hero 5 tracks into Band Hero will cost you six bucks or the equivalent (480 MS, 600 Wii points), while transporting the Band Hero tracks into GH5 will be a buck cheaper: $4.99 / 400 MS / 500 Wii.

On November 12 we get three new tracks from Lenny Kravitz, and… OK, I’m going to go on record here: I have no idea why people like Lenny Kravitz. I don’t mean to insult anyone’s musical tastes or anything, but he’s one of those artists whose popularity I simply do not get. But hey, at least the track pack includes the one Kravitz tune I can actually stand: “Let Love Rule.”

Lenny Kravitz Fly Away Lenny Kravitz - 5 - Fly Away
Lenny Kravitz Lady Lenny Kravitz - Baptism - Lady
Lenny Kravitz Let Love Rule Lenny Kravitz - Let Love Rule - Let Love Rule

November 19 brings three tracks from KISS, who are still very much Alive!, as evidenced by “Modern Day Delilah,” off of Sonic Boom, released just this past month. At Walmart. Only. God help them.

Kiss I Was Made for Lovin’ You KISS - Dynasty - I Was Made for Lovin' You
Kiss Lick it Up KISS - Lick It Up - Lick It Up
Kiss Modern Day Delilah N/A N/A

Since Thanksgiving falls on the following Thursday, the next batch of DLC hits on Tuesday the 24th. For this release I have good news, better news, bad news, and odd news. The good news: It’s double the usual release quotient at six tracks. The better news: They’re all free! The bad news: You don’t get them, Wii owners. The odd news: You Wii owners do get a release this week, which I’ll get to in a moment.

First, the Neversoft Thanks the Fans Track Pack, featuring another batch of songs from bands featuring Neversoft employees. (Since most of these aren’t available via the usual channels, hit the band links to listen at their MySpace pages.)

An Endless Sporadic From the Blue/Point of No Return/T.T.R.T.S N/A
Bunny Knutson Lemon Frosting N/A N/A
Davidicus You Really Like Me N/A Davidicus - You Really Like Me EP - You Really Like Me
Dom Liberati Love Holds It Down N/A N/A
Nancy Fullforce Rock N Rola N/A Nancy Fullforce - Official Nancy Fullforce Handbook - Rock N Rola
Tony Solis Guilty Pleasures N/A Tony Solis - Guilty Pleasures - Guilty Pleasures

And as I mentioned, you Wii owners aren’t totally out of luck: You get eight tracks from Metallica’s Death Magnetic album, which have been available for 360 and PS3 owners since the launch of World Tour (and hence GH5), but not you. But now they are!

Metallica All Nightmare Long Metallica - Death Magnetic
Metallica Suicide & Redemption J.H. Metallica - Death Magnetic
Metallica Suicide & Redemption K.H. Metallica - Death Magnetic
Metallica That Was Just Your Life Metallica - Death Magnetic
Metallica The Day That Never Comes Metallica - Death Magnetic
Metallica The End of the Line Metallica - Death Magnetic
Metallica The Judas Kiss Metallica - Death Magnetic
Metallica The Unforgiven III Metallica - Death Magnetic

And here’s the pricing details: The Neversoft pack is free, of course. The Kravitz and KISS packs are the usual price of $5.49 / 440 MS / 550 Wii, or $1.99 / 160 MS / 200 Wii apiece. And the Metallica tunes are available for 200 Wii Points apiece.

So there you have it: One of the odder months for DLC I’ve seen in awhile.

Without delving too deeply into music snobbery, I’ve said the same thing about KISS that you feel about Lenny Kravitz (not that I’m a fan of his much either).

I’m not far from that position with regard to Kiss, either, but I had the benefit if playing in a band with two very devoted members of the Kiss Army, so I got to witness some of the love firsthand. I wouldn’t say it rubbed off, but I was able to understand it.

I’m not sure if I can explain exactly what it was, but I think they loved it because it was ridiculous — and because the music is just catchy enough that it’s possible to enjoy while still knowing it’s completely ridiculous.

I fear the type of person for whom “Love Gun” or “Lick it Up” bears any sort of correlation to reality.

davidicus here–You Really Like Me is part of an EP available on iTunes, CD baby (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/davidicus) and so on! i know one YouTube reviewer labelled that song “Weeeeeird” but someone out there might like it :) the rest of the songs have different flavors.

Thanks, davidicus — updated here, in The Vault, and at the other post. Rock on!
