Priceless. IGN posted a preview last week for a game called Fret Nice, a downloadable platformer due in early ’10 on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. It’s a game with positively whacked-out artwork (reminds me of RatherGood, come to think of it) and a focus on music, but that’s not the hook.
The hook is that it’s designed to be played with a guitar controller.
From the preview:
The green button on the neck is used for moving to the left while the red goes right. The middle button, colored yellow, is used for jumping. The strum bar is hit to climb up or down ropes.
The preview goes on to explain combat, which is where the significance of the guitar controller really seems to come into play. I have to say I love the idea of building a game around a guitar that isn’t the same play-along format. And awkward though the game may sound, I’m curious as hell to try it out. Aren’t you?
I’ve posted some more screens after the break if you’d like to break your brain a little.
