Guitar Hero 5 Attempts Rock Around the Clock

Rocking around the clock.According to Pocket-lint (er, OK), Activision is attempting to set a world record to promote the European release of Guitar Hero 5. Apparently stores in France, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Holland, and England are hosting marathon party-play sessions in an attempt to rack up a continuous 24 hours of play.

From the article:

The record attempt will continue from 11am today until the store closes at 7pm and for one more hour form opening time at 10am tomorrow – so long as the cleaner doesn’t switch the console off tonight, that is.

I’m assuming that this is worded badly, or that the attempt started before today. Because, you know, if nobody’s playing while the store is closed that’s not exactly a 24-hour session, now is it?

GH5 kind of causes World Record verifiers a bit more headache, now they have to ensure someone is actually playing the game for the entire session as you can just ‘sit out’ a song or 12 and the game continues.

Let alone closing the store around it for 15 hours.
