Uh oh, looks like things are heating up. Joystiq has just reported that Activision has issued a statement about Courtney Love’s claims that she didn’t approve the use of Kurt Cobain’s likeness in Guitar Hero 5. From the statement:

“Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain’s likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero 5.”

I’m guessing they probably, you know, have a copy of that agreement lying around somewhere, wouldn’t you think?
