Joystiq has put up an extremely helpful post for anyone looking to pick up The Beatles: Rock Band who doesn’t already own a set of instruments. Remember that special value edition I talked about awhile ago? Turns out it’s not quite as valuable as it may seem.

For one thing, the instruments are the Rock Band 1 versions, which are, in my opinion, inferior to their successors in every way.  But even worse, you can pick up a Rock Band 2 bundle for $100 from Amazon. Add the $60 for the Beatles disc and you’re at the same price as the “value edition” — only with better instruments and a copy of Rock Band 2.
