You know, it just occurred to me: Guitar Hero 5 is out, with a new guitar controller, but there’s no word of those new drums everyone was talking about back in July. And the blog post where they were revealed appears to have been removed.

So what’s the deal? I sent an e-mail to Activision’s PR and got this response: “Guitar Hero 5 is available as stand-alone software and guitar bundle only.  Thanks for checking in!”

Not terribly illuminating. So I thought, maybe there was a miscommunication, and the drums are actually for Band Hero. And lookie here, there they are in the Band Hero Trailer. I’ve followed up with Activision but have yet to hear back; I’ll be sure to update when I do.

In the meantime, has anyone else seen any official word about the fate of the new drums? Am I just missing something? Help me out here.
